Build tactical patterns one motif at a time. Learning is a guided mode in ChessWoodie that helps you master core tactics by focusing on a single theme, instead of mixing motifs or configuring courses.
Each Learning item focuses on a single tactical motif, such as forks, pins or checkmates, with a fixed training setup. There are no decisions about puzzle counts or repetitions, so you can start straight away.
One motif at a time
When you solve a mix of puzzles, individual ideas get lost. A motif you keep missing is buried among everything else, and it is hard to study a pattern you only meet a few times at random.
Learning isolates one motif so you can work on it directly. Staying with a single theme, you build a clearer understanding of why the tactic works, and you learn to spot it faster in real games.
The same repetition engine
Learning tracks run on the same repetition-based engine as the rest of ChessWoodie. You solve a fixed set of puzzles and repeat them across cycles, so the patterns become automatic rather than something you recalculate each time.
Progress is saved automatically, so you can stop and continue where you left off. More on the cycles is on the Repetition Cycles page.
It feeds your wider picture
Learning is a focused way in, not a separate silo. Your Learning attempts contribute to your overall Training Insights, so the time you spend here shows up in how your tactical strengths and weaknesses evolve over time.
It stays separate from competitive leaderboards, so you can drill a weak motif without it counting against you anywhere.
